hints for improving maintenance
#1
While digging through my old pile of notes i made when researching a potential rotorway kit purchase I came across this.    I don't know where I saw it, or who wrote it.
I'm going to quote what I wrote down, and I'm specifically asking what your thought are on nutplates across the the top and bottom of the windscreen.

"Now ,I’m all in favor of items to improve safety or maintenance. You should build the machine like you were going to take it apart next week. Anything attached to the seats should be very easy to remove or disconnect. Seats should be very easy to remove from the rest of the body panels to make easy access to the front of the engine and the lower main shaft area. This means nutplates across the top of the windscreen and I also put them on the bottom of the windscreen , too. bolts can be used on the door posts, they can come out with the windscreen. Hardly ever any need to separate them again.
Also , make holes in seats big enough so belts can go thru them without removing frame attachments."

thumbs up for nutplates myself,

that is a really good point on the side pillars not needing to come off.
i just removed my windscreen last night and the previous owner had nutplates on the bottom aleady, i will be adding nutplates to the top aswell but not to the pillars like you mentioned here.

to add to this i also intend to add Latches to the seatback inspection panels to make checking oil and for leaks/wiring more pre-flight friendly. if you dont have to grab a tool to access it there's less of a chance of human laziness taking advantage.

I agree, especially with the inspections via the behind the seat, anything to make that easier is a good thing, I came up with my way of achieving that process, no tools required
